Ian Mollard

  Executive Producer

Ian has over 25 years’ experience in the Sports Event industry working with many clients including – the NBA, adidas, Nike, Budweiser, Kellogg’s, Footlocker, GB Handball, GB Wheelchair Rugby, Invictus Games and UK Athletics.

For the past 6 years he has focused on the production of Sports Presentation at a series of World Stage events which have included the Super League Triathlon Series, the 2018 Warrior Games, Colorado Springs, the 2018 Athletics World Cup and Anniversary Games in London, the 2017 IPC and IAAF World Athletics Championships, the London 2012 Olympics & Paralympics, the Rio 2016 Olympics & Paralympics, the 2015 World Handball Championships, Qatar, the 2015 European Games, Azerbaijan, Modern Pentathlon European Championships, Bath 2015 and both the inaugural London 2014 Invictus Games and the 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando.

The ‘Hero the Hedgehog’ Mascot Activation managed by Curiosity360 Productions was awarded ‘Entertainment Experience of the Year’ 2017 at the BT Sports Industry Awards, in London.

Ian is extremely comfortable leading large teams of individuals to deliver high quality live events in front of large crowds of people across a wide range of sports.

Ian Atkinson

  Technical Producer

Ian has been involved in sport for over 12 years working on a host of national and international events. Experienced in a number of roles including Project Management, Event Director, Broadcast & Venue Producer, Overlay and Technology Management, Ian brings an adaptable and flexible approach to any event. Major event credits include the Super League Triathlon Series 2020-2018, Invictus UK Trials, Great Run Company Events, KSI vs Logan Paul YouTube Boxing, London 2012 Olympics & Paralympic Games, FINA Diving World Series, Invictus Games London 2014 & Orlando 2016, LEN European Aquatics, BT World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge, Duel in the Pool 2013.

Ian is also a regular Event Director for multiple disciplines across British Swimming and Swim England where he works closely with the NGB on grassroots sport through to showcase international events from conception to delivery and broadcast. Technology integration and creative, dynamic production are just two of Ian’s many skills which include leading large teams, risk management and strong communication as well as rope access, rigging and lighting experience from work in the entertainment and theatre industry. Ian is a founding Director of Curiosity360 Productions.

Case Studies

Super League Triathlon Series 

Super League Triathlon is an award-winning, game changing Triathlon Series  featuring the top male and female triathletes in the World. An actions packed, short course, made for TV event, hosted in city centres and prime locations around Europe, Asian and North America, where athletes go head to head in inventive new formats to win top prize money. 

Curiosity360 Productions were bought into the first series in Jersey 2018 and asked to deliver Sports Presentation across the weekend including a range of community, age group, Junior and Youth events in addition to the elite race formats. This also involved providing magazine style live streaming to an international audience.

Since then, Curiosity360 Productions have been working with SLT around the world on race weeks, content production, The Power Up Show (broadcast fortnightly on YouTube & Facebook) as well as remote production during COVID-19 and eSports Racing. 

KSI vs Logan Paul YouTube Boxing – Manchester 2018

KSI vs. Logan Paul is a two-part white-collar amateur boxing match between two YouTubers, KSI (UK) and Logan Paul (USA), with in excess of 40 million subscribers between them.

The first of the two parts was held on 25 August 2018 in front of a capacity crowd at the Manchester Arena, England, and was streamed on YouTube’s pay-per-view platform to over 800,000 viewers.

The fight has been labelled “the largest event in YouTube history” and “the largest ever amateur boxing fight”.
Curiosity360 Productions were asked to produce both the in-venue Sports Presentation along with the YouTube stream.

This involved an evening of 8 bouts between YouTubers and the complex management of both the in-venue spectator expectations along with delivering a seamless YouTube broadcast for over 6 hours.

2018 QUAD NATIONS WHEELCHAIR RUGBY, LEICESTER

In 2015 GB Wheelchair Rugby held a tournament alongside the Rugby World Cup. Held at the Copperbox on the Olympic Park in London, Curiosity360 provided full Sports Presentation for that event.

From that event was created the Quad Nations tournament with the inaugural event being held at the Leicester Arena in 2018. Planned as an annual event, the 2018 event featured 4 of the top 5 teams in the World just months before the World Championships – Great Britain, Australia, USA and Japan.

Curiosity360 provided full service Sports Presentation including a dynamic entry tunnel for teams, management of in-venue big screens & content and audio system, an entertainment programme with commentators and presenters in-front of camera along with provision of interactive graphics and numerous video elements throughout the tournament.

We were also responsible for the broadcast of the event, managing a multi camera team and providing a full live stream to BBC Sport with live in-game commentary, punditry, highlights and recaps of the action throughout the three-day event.

King Power Title Sponsorship was also delivered by C360P team members.

2017 IAAF WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS, LONDON

Curiosity360 Productions were set a brief to take the Championships pre-designed mascot; HERO – and turn him into a living, breathing character who would have a dynamic presence and impact throughout the Athletics Championships.

With international experience and contacts C360P produced bespoke costumes and sourced two performers who turned Hero into a global star, described simply as ‘the best mascot ever’ by any number of people including the Mayor of London.

His presence was not only felt in the stadium but globally through continual coverage by the host broadcaster as well as extremely high hits across a wide range of social media.

Several industry articles have since been written about the success of Hero and how he has set a benchmark for future sporting events.

2016 INVICTUS GAMES, ORLANDO, USA

In 2016 members of Curiosity360 Productions, working with Donaldson Creative, came together to deliver the Sports Presentation Programme for the second Invictus Games in Orlando.

An international team of highly experienced individuals was assembled to work alongside Disney’s technical team to deliver truly world stage sports presentation across six venues hosting 10 sports, as well as Jaguar Land Rover’s Driving Challenge.

Senior Producer, Ian Mollard was responsible for the entire delivery in Orlando which included production of all video material (in-house) with the exception of a Super Opener which he scoped and oversaw. A portfolio of interactive graphics was also created.

An extensive entertainment programme was produced from scratch including the Invictus Dancers and extremely popular IAM Hype team who interacted with spectators and friends and family to create a tremendously fun and engaging environment throughout the Games.
This included guest appearances from the NFL’s Jackson Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers dance and drum line teams.

The team were also able to lend considerable support to other functional areas with regard to scheduling and ensuring the smooth running of each competition. All medal Ceremonies were also managed and run through teams assembled by Ian Mollard.

I had the pleasure of working with Curiosity360 Productions during the IPC World Para Athletics and IAAF World Athletics Championships at the London Stadium this Summer (2017).

Specifically, Ian Mollard who during the Para Athletics was responsible for organizing the Opening and Closing protocols as well as creating and Producing the Pre-Show for each session of sport.

For the IAAF World Athletics, we tasked Curiosity360 Productions with the job of animating our existing mascot ‘Hero the Hedgehog’ and creating a dynamic entity with personality, charm and cheek who would engage with the in-stadium audience.  

The result, was simply amazing and generally regarded as one of the best global major championship mascots of all time.
